More good news! The Pharus Foundation has decided to subsidise our project De Boerderij Ma’aratsien!
The situation in rural Syria is extremely bad. People are still living in tents, now next to their bombed-out homes, and some are even going hungry.
There is plenty of work, but it pays very poorly. As a result, some families in Taha’s village eat only twice a day, and then only bread.
That is why Stichting Mattar has decided, alongside making the rebuilding of the village possible, to start a Farm project here once again. And Pharus is going to fund it! www.stichtingpharus.nl
This time it will mainly be a women’s project. The men in the village have work, mostly in construction, but earn only $10 a day, which is not enough to feed a family. This time the women will work the land!
With that work they earn a good wage by Syrian standards: $1.50 per hour.
